First up I think we might have to apologise for being so rubbish at keeping in touch. One minute it was September and we were recording bits and pieces and planning Christmas Hootenanny’s and the next thing you know Falmouth’s basking in an early summer and we’re putting our festival heads (and hats) on. So sorry about that…

But you’ll be glad to know it’s been a good six months! Edited highlights include gigs at The Bedford in London, Mr Wolf’s in Bristol and The Barrelhouse in Totnes; getting our first bit of airplay on BBC 6 Music, and making the final 20 of the Red Stripe Music Awards.

And now we’re looking at a very busy and fun summer of driving around in our big white wagon playing summery loveliness to crowds of happy campers. Here’s the gig/festival list as it stands! Although please keep your eyes on www.myspace.com/allthefires as we’re hoping to confirm quite a few more in the next few weeks:

MONDAY MAY 3rd – Penryn May Day @ The King’s Head, Penryn (music from 8pm) Stage time about 9.30pm

SAT MAY 5th – Sunrise Festival, Bruton, Somerset (Playing in the boodiful Bimble Inn Tent) Stage time TBC

SUN JUNE 13th – Llama Festival @ The Blueball Inn, Lynmouth, Devon Stage time approx 3pm

TUES JULY 13th – The Alternative Stage @ Paolo Nutini Eden Sessions, Eden Project, Cornwall Stage time 5pm

SUN JULY 18th – Thunderfest, Powderham Castle, Devon. Stage time TBC

FRIDAY 6th AUGUST – Holifair Festival, Gweek, Cornwall. Stage time 6.30pm

SATURDAY 11th SEPTEMBER – Ivylive Festival, Ivybridge, Devon Stage time TBC

All we have to do now is install 6 new seats, a window, 5sqm of ply lining, some carpet and maybe an air vent or two to the van, and we’ll be all set! Hope to see some of you on the road. Beep if you see Bugs on the dashboard…

Finally, and back in the real, non-gigging world, we just want to congratulate Danny our electric guitarist and pedal peddlar on his impending nuptials. We are all very excited about his wedding in a few weeks, and wish him and Kelly a very good break in France afterwards. We were thinking we might all come along too, actually? Do a bit of work on our festival set? Wot you reckon Dan?

So now things have thawed out a bit and we are accompanied by the lovely sound of melting snow and happy birds, maybe it’s a good time for an update on what we’ve been doing the last few months..

After a few more crazily packed but very enojoyable gigs in our hometown, Ben has been working hard getting us gigs a bit further afield and we’re chuffed to be getting offered slots from all over the country. If you want to check out the latest list head to the LIVE page. We have a proper band wagon now, complete with handy roof ladder, stuffed rabbit and many, many seats…so bring on the festivals!

Talking of gigs, just a quick, friendly prod at anyone in the London area: we’re at The Bedford in Balham on Thursday 28th Jan so please come down if you can. We’re going to be very nervous and over-excitable so support would be really appreciated..

In other news, we’re happy to say that we’re going to be one of the featured unsigned bands on www.we7.com for two weeks from this Thursday (14th Jan). If you don’t know the site definitely take a peek at it and if you feel like writing us a little comment that would be peachy.

Bye for now!

We’ve been asked to contribute some music to a documentary and the outcome has been two tunes that get us all (well, Rosalie and Kath) dancing round the room and wishing we didn’t have instruments that get in the way. We’re just a little bit excited about them, as it’s the first time the 6 of us have worked on writing things together from scratch. Recording is a pretty strange process sometimes, but when it’s been a genuinely collaborative song, and you have pasties, cigarettes and wine on hand, it’s a pretty good way to spend a day.

We’ll let you know how you can hear them soon!

Back in Falmouth after a crazy day in Exeter at the Acoustica festival. We ended up spending 15 hours there, in between a live performance on Phonic FM in the morning (Hello Dave and Mick) and the last bar slot of the evening. Luckily we had our own Danny ‘Daniels’ Konik on hand, who has hidden talents with a pack of cards..

The gig itself was surreal but good fun and we seemed to pull an appreciative little crowd, aided by a really brilliant sound man and a last-minute extension of the bar’s opening hours! We met some lovely Greenlanders, and the Phoenix looked after us very well and we hope we’ll be back there some time soon.

Now we’re home it’s time to work on new songs and upcoming gigs (see Live for a full list). We’ve also uploaded two live, acoustic recordings onto this site (see the clever little widget thing on the homepage), and if you pass the link on to 5 friends they are totally free to download . Thanks to Simon Neild at Inside Local Music for letting us share them. We’d love to know what you make of them, so once you’ve had a good listen, please come back here and tell us..

Our first gig outside Cornwall, and with the most amazing line-up including Tunng and Beth Jeans Houghton. All that for just £12. If you’re anywhere near, you *have* to come along. Please. We’re on about 10.30pm, the very last band of the festival!

We love Peapods, it’s a totally unique and intimate space, and we’ve been chuffed to sell out our last two shows there. Get down early if you can.

And somehow in the middle of it all we are heading into the studio next weekend to record a few things that we hope will make it onto a documentary next year. But more news on that to follow…

Right. We’re off to kick some leaves about.
